Pattern Tester

Are you interested in being a pattern tester for LilypaDesigns? Check out the criteria below and see if you have what it takes!

WHO

  • Advanced Beginner or higher level sewing experience. While prior lingerie sewing experience is not necessary, pattern testers should be comfortable (or acclimate quickly) sewing 1/4” (6mm) seam allowances, knit and stretch fabrics, sewing concave and convex curves together (like a sleeve) and using the zig zag stitch on elastics. Some experience working with boning, corsets and formal wear a plus. Pattern test application or invitation will state the level of sewing experience required for each test.

WHAT

  • Our select group of pattern testers may be asked to test different types of lingerie and clothing. From bras and knickers to camisoles and dresses.

  • Sew up a sample of our latest pattern, write a review, take photos, look for errors in the pattern and instructions.

WHEN

  • As an official pattern tester, you will receive opportunities to participate in testing several times a year via email. You can opt in or out of each opportunity as your schedule permits.

  • Pattern Testing typically has 2 rounds - each lasting between 7 - 30 days depending on the test requirements.

HOW

  1. Sign up to be a pattern tester and if selected:

  2. Know (or find out) your LilypaDesigns Pattern size.

  3. Get the PDF pattern, gather your supplies, then test away.

  4. Take photos while wearing the sample

  5. Write your review and upload everything using our form.

  6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for Round 2.

  7. Share your makes on your blog, website or Social Media!

WHY

  • Direct access to the designer for fit questions with the opportunity to help shape and develop patterns for a niche group that has limited sewing pattern options.

  • Testers receive a copy of the PDF pattern they test for free

  • A $20 store credit applicable to anything in our shop! Tester compensation may increase depending on the nature of the test. More details will be available in the application form.

  • Additional freebies to assist you in your makes (US only).

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Participants are selected based on their pattern SIZE (aka measurements). As such, not all who apply will be selected.

  • Sewing supplies are NOT provided. Any out of the ordinary supplies required will be stated prior via email prior to testing start.

  • Sample is typically made muslin or scrap fabric. Fabric requirements vary depending on pattern.

  • Fit Photos need to be clear and well lit. At least one each from the front, side (hand on hip, elbow back) and back views are required.

  • Final Photos are required. These may be stylized flat lays or on the body and will be shared on social media. (Additional photo requirements may apply depending on the test.)

  • Final PDF pattern and tester rewards will be provided to participants who have completed BOTH rounds and post one review on platform of choice after official pattern release.
